Valle de Bravo’s lake came alive with sails, color, and new stories during the first regatta of the new Melges 15 fleet in late August, bringing together 18 boats for four days of training, racing, and plenty of fun on the water. SMA Yachts is bringing this new fleet to Valle de Bravo, joining the Melges 15 community already sailing in Chapala, Mexico.
Over two days of training and two days of racing, crews discovered what makes the Melges 15 so special: easy to sail, incredibly fun, and made to be shared with friends, partners, and family.
After two races on the first day, a small storm sent everyone back to shore. The next day, the skies opened up and we enjoyed four spectacular races with the lake covered in sails. Saturday night, we celebrated the official launch of the new fleet with a cocktail gathering for owners, friends, and families.
And this is just the beginning. 12 more Melges 15s are arriving in December, bringing the fleet in Valle de Bravo to 36 boats in total. Together with the 18 boats already sailing in Chapala, the Melges 15 community in Mexico will continue to grow.
The Melges 15 isn’t just about racing. It’s about getting out on the water with the people you love.
